The SENDtrax Assessment Tool has been designed to help educators gain a comprehensive view of each pupil, ensuring that both strengths and challenges are highlighted in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2014).

The SENDtrax Assessment Tool provides an in-depth evaluation of a pupil’s Areas of Need as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice. It breaks down each area into further individual skills, making it easy for educators to pinpoint exactly where a pupil requires additional support.

Despite its depth, the assessment is quick and simple for an educator to complete, ensuring that high-quality insights are gathered without adding unnecessary workload. Schools can customise user access to allow the staff who know the pupil best—such as classroom teachers or support staff—to complete assessments. This reduces the burden on the SENDCo while ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the child’s needs.

SENDtrax’s assessment tool follows the four key Areas of Need from the SEND Code of Practice:

• Communication and Interaction
• Cognition and Learning
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health
• Sensory and/or Physical Needs

Each area is further divided into specific skill sets, allowing a more granular approach to assessment. This ensures that educators don’t just get a broad label, but meaningful insights into a child’s individual strengths and challenges.

 Once an assessment is completed, educators can select targeted interventions from our database of hundreds of learning targets. These targets align with a pupil’s specific needs, ensuring that support strategies are relevant, structured, and easy to monitor.

Pupils with SEND often have strengths that can be overshadowed by their challenges. To ensure that parents and carers stay engaged in their child's development, SENDtrax allows schools to set up a Parent Portal. This feature enables educators to share pie chart-based progress reports with families, highlighting a child's achievements rather than just their difficulties. By shifting the focus onto what the child can do, the SENDtrax Parent Portal helps to foster a positive and supportive dialogue between schools and families.
